Summary of this Opportunity: We are seeking a professional salesperson for our Edmonton, Alberta branch with the ability to develop accounts and market strategy to expand Barnhart Canada’s services in heavy industrial and energy markets with high potential for repeat business. Our ideal candidate will have familiarity with heavy haul and crane functions, capabilities, and standards with a business or inside/outside sales background along with a proven track record of interacting with owners, engineers and/or contractors who are directly involved in providing specialty rigging, lifting and/or heavy haul services.  

Job Description (Purpose):

  • Is responsible for the maintenance and growth of existing and new customer base through regular activities such as sales calls, jobsite visits, and responses to quotations and/or RFP’s 
  • Is aware and in pursuit of opportunities for account growth and new business, including cross-selling services for client activity in other geographies covered by the company 
  • Responsible for all assigned accounts in terms of communications, conflict resolution, and compliance on client deliverables and revenue
  • Establish relationships with key decision makers for key accounts with long term focus
  • Leverage relationships to generate opportunities in the crane and heavy haul industry
  • Develop strategies and tactics to penetrate new and targeted accounts 
  • Create and execute an annual sales plan with defined goals and objectives 
  • Prospect and qualify warm leads 
  • Conduct discovery meetings/job walks with existing and new customers to uncover needs
  • Create and deliver solutions and proposal presentations to customer’s decision-making team 
  • Respond to RFP’s, develop potential solutions, estimate and prepare tailored proposals 
  • Close sales by selling value and overcoming objections 
  • Is self-motivated and when required can lead a team ensuring the “One TEAM” culture is adhered to
  • Work in close conjunction with operations staff to ensure optimum fleet implementation and utilization, assist with daily operational requirements where directed
  • Provide regular two-way communication between the client and operations team to provide strong team representation and set proper client expectations

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Proven track record of business development results including prospecting new business and closing profitable work.
  • Skilled in identifying, approaching, presenting and building relationships with decision makers within a complex sales environment.  Must be comfortable with all levels from field craft to executives.
  • Mechanically inclined with basic understanding of specialty rigging, heavy lifting, and transportation execution 
  • Experience with motivating and leading a sale group
  • Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of or ability to learn IFS (ERP/CRM).
  • Requires frequent travel to customer sites.

Education – Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or sufficient experience required.

Experience – 7-10 years sales experience; industrial or construction sales preferred, with a minimum of 3 years crane and heavy haul related experience, along with skills to be a self-starting and a self-motivated sales leader.
